B-001 Opening up the "Oliver"

Situation

The boat has been unused for a period of time, and has been closed accordingly. All systems are shut down and the electric power is not operational.

Procedure

1
Unclip the rear rain cover, including the clips to the centre support (a length of wood). Fold the cover carefully and put it to one side.

2
Lift the cover of the right rear locker (the rear locker on the opposite side of the boat to the engine throttle lever)

3
Turn on the main power switch by rotating the switch handle 90 degrees clockwise from the "off" position. It is on when the centre line of the switch handle is along the length of the boat.

4
Place the folded rear rain cover into the locker and replace the locker cover.

5
Make sure that all the low voltage breakers ore ON, except for the breaker labeled"Head Light". You only turn this on when sailing through a tunnel or in the dark.

6
Open the door to the electrical control units. It is a double-door cabinet directly below the low voltage breakers.

7
Turn on the inverter by toggling the small black 3-position switch in the middle of the inverter face. It should be down against the "on" text.

8
Remover the WhisperGen control panel cover by pulling on the knob at the top of the cover face.

9
Turn on the WhisperGen by pressing the "Start" button on the WhisperGen control panel for 3 seconds

10
It takes the WhisperGen about 15 minutes to start up. When it is in "run" mode (when the light against the text "Running" lights up) then it's running fine. If the WhisperGen doesn't start up as described or if it shuts itself down and the red "fault" light is on, call for help!

11
Lift the cover on the gas bottle locker ( the rear locker that is inboard of the main switch locker specified in step 2.

12
Turn on the gas by turning the valve on top of the gas bottle that is connected to a reducer anti-clockwise as far as it will go.

13
Replace the cover of the gas bottle locker.

14
Test that the lights on the boat work. If they don't work, check all the steps, then call for help!

15
Close the refrigerator door.

16
Test the central heating by opening up the thermostatic valve on one of the radiators. If it doesn't, work, check all the steps, then call for help!

17
Test the hot water by running a tap. It takes about 25 minutes for the water to heat up when using the WhisperGen. If it doesn't get hot check all the steps, then call for help!

18
If you are staying at the mooring, take the shore power cable out of the main switch locker, Plug one end to the power outlet on the shore, close to the boat. Plug the other end into the receptacle set into the boat bulkhead directly above the gas bottle locker.
