Operating Procedures 1

HT-201 Watch Satellite Television

Situation

The boat has been moored. You want to watch television.

Procedure

1
Turn on the Home Theatre Unit. The easiest way is to press the "Power On" switch on the HT remote control. If this doesn't work, the unit is powered off at its main switch. Press the power button on the front of the home theatre module.

2
Turn on the Television. The easiest way is to press the "TV I/O" button at the top centre of the home theatre remote control. Alternatively, you can press the Power On switch on the TV remote control. If the TV still doesn't light up, press the power button at the top of the TV panel itself.

3

Use the Home Theatre remote to select the correct video input.

  • Press the "TV/Video" button in the upper right quadrant of the home theatre remote control until "AV1" appears at the bottom left of the TV screen.
  • Press the "Function" button in the upper right quadrant of the home theatre remote control until "Video 1" appears in the display panel of the home theatre unit.

Note that the TV should be set up as follows using the TV remote control:

  • menu -> AV Connections -> AV1
  • menu -> Sound -> Sound via Hi-Fi

These should already be set up this way, so this should be just a check.

5

Use the Home Theatre remote to select the correct audio output.

Using the "Sound Field" button at the centre right of the home theatre remote control, select:

  • Sound Field-> N. Surround

This should already be set up this way, so this should be just a check.

6

Turn on the Satellite dish control module. If it is already on (a green light showing on the face of the panel, then turn it off first. Wait for it complete its shutdown procedure, then turn it on again. The easiest way is to press the Power On switch on the controller remote control. A login screen should appear on the TV with the login ID "UFD540" already filled in.

At this point you will hear the motor satellite dish on the roof start up and it will take the satellite to the position it was last in when receiving a TV station.

7

If you have moved the boat since the last time you picked up a channel the system will fail to find the satellite. It will ask you if you want to search for it. Press the "OK" button on the controller remote and the search sequence will start. Try not to rock the boat while it is searching. It will cause the dish to "lose" the satellite - and it will tell you so.

The search may pass through the station you are looking for several times, and you will see the picture and hear the sound in the small window that the controller throws up on the TV screen. You can stop the search at this point and probably watch quite happily. However, the controller isn't as happy as you are, and when you try to change to another station on the same satellite it will ask you if you want to search again.

If the search fails, try it again. The easiest way is to select another channel on the same satellite. If it continues to fail to find the satellite, it probably can't see it from where you are. Try a different satellite.

The ones I have had good luck with are:

  • Astra28 (all the BBC channels and several good news channels)
  • Astra
  • Hotbird

8

Change the volume using the Home Theatre remote.

Note: Sometimes, for reasons of its own, the home theatre kicks the volume down to zero, and it seems as if you have lost sound completely. Touch the "Vol +" button a few times and it should come up.

9
You can change the style of the sound you hear by touching the "Sound Field" button a few times. Stop when you like the effect.
